Group Repeat

Hello,

Wintermute here with your daily dose of DUMBR. Today I want to talk about something that really annoys me when I see other English Teachers do. They will have the whole class repeat a sentence or an answer all at the same  time. I understand 30-40 students can seem like a lot and its hard to get them all to speak individually but thats your job.

It's okay if a Korean English Teacher does it because well honestly, they don't make the best English Teachers, which is why you were hired. You can not effectively hear if children are pronouncing the words right by just making them all repeat at the same time. Honestly I never have kids repeat me, I make them find the answer themselves, and I never have them all talk at the same time.

This allows me to hear each student, and correct each student if they make a mistake. The main reason you are teaching in a Korean school is so the students can hear your native English and you can hear them speaking and help correct them. I have found most of my students know english very well, but their speaking is very poor. So work hard and see you soon.

Your Teacher,
Wintermute

  1. Yeah and it's impossible to tell if 4 or 5 of them aren't saying anything at all.
